Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?

Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?

What will you hear when you read this book to a preschool child?

Lots of noise!

Children will chant the rhythmic words. They'll make the sounds the animals make. And they'll pretend to be the zoo animals featured in the book-- look at the last page!

Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle are two of the most respected names in children's education and children's illustrations. This collaboration, their first since the classic Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (published more than thirty years ago and still a best-seller) shows two masters at their best.

Baby in Boots

Baby in Boots

Originally this was supposed to be my muffin that I'd share with him. He had other plans.

The plans apparently involved shrieking when I tried to take some of the muffin, and also involved squishing large portions of it and sprinkling the crumbs on the chair to create a sort of muffin-mound.

However, he looks very innocent here.

We got those hiking boots boots for 80c at the second-hand store. What a find! The hoodie was given by a friend who got it from her friend. And now that I think of it, those pants were in a lot that I bought used on eBay. (The socks and diaper were purchased new, however.)

Sweet Lolita Store

Sweet Lolita Store

This was from a second hand lolita store selling all kinds of off brand and brand lolita clothes from shoes to headbands to dresses to jsks. I forgot the name of it, but it was off of Takeshita Dori in Harajuku, Tokyo, Japan. I bought a used Baby the Stars Shine Bright heart shaped purse from there for $20!

God Gave Us You

When a charming polar bear cub climbs into bed one night, she asks her mama a very important question--one that little "human cubs" often wonder about too: "Where did I come from?"
As Mama Bear tucks her young cub under the quilts, she gently, tenderly, and reassuringly communicates the message loving parents everywhere (bears and non-bears alike) want their little ones to hear: "We wanted you very, very much, and we are so very glad because..."God gave us you."
Perfect for bedtime, naptime, storytime, or anytime, God Gave Us You provides a valuable opportunity to build children's self-esteem every day and assure each one that he or she truly is a welcomed, precious, and treasured gift from above.
